Napster co-founder and former Facebook president regrets on his $11m wedding


It should have been the best day of his life - but the internet mogul who spent a reported US$9million ($11.6million) on his wedding continues to have to justify the splurge.
New Zealand Oscar-winning costume designer Ngila Dickson provided the outfits for every guest at the California resort where Sean Parker held his Lord of the Rings-inspired wedding to singer-songwriter Alexandra Lenas. Dickson has signed a confidentiality agreement.
But the spend has been panned around the world, leading Parker to tell Britain's Guardian newspaper that he had been spat on in the street as news of the wedding's cost spread.

Yesterday, Parker revealed more than US$2million of the bill was because the venue threatened to cancel it if he didn't agree to pay for unpermitted wedding construction and the inn's past land-use violations.
The co-founder of Napster Inc and former Facebook president said that after two years of wedding planning the Ventana Inn & Spa in Big Sur preferred to cancel 20 days before the event rather than work out an agreement with the California Coastal Commission. Parker said it was unreasonable for Ventana to assume he, as the renter of the site, should have known coastal commission permits were needed for him to stage the event.
Parker, 33, who was portrayed by Justin Timberlake in the movie The Social Network, agreed to pay US$2.5million after a neighbour complained about fake ruins, and other structures that had been built.
